1.    Personal data
Personal data are individual details about personal or factual circumstances of a specific or identifiable natural person. This includes information such as name, address, telephone number and birth date. 2.    Responsible party
Responsible entity as defined by the data protection legislation is Gretsch-Unitas GmbH Baubeschläge, Johann-Maus-Str. 3, 71254 Ditzingen/Germany.

Where possible, confidential data is transferred using the HTTPS protocol with SSL certificate encryption.

4.    Data processing, consent to the use of data
When users visit the website, the web server of Gretsch-Unitas will temporarily store the following data by default to ensure system security:

  • connection data of the requesting computer (IP address),
  • identification data of the browser and operating system type,
  • Gretsch-Unitas web pages visited,
  • date and duration of the visit.

Additional personal information such as name, address, telephone number or e-mail address is not collected unless these details are provided on a voluntary basis, e.g. in the context of a registration, a survey, a prize competition, or when executing a contract or requesting information. Gretsch-Unitas cannot allocate the automatically collected data to specific individuals. A compilation of this data with other data sources is not made, in fact it is deleted after a statistical analysis.

Gretsch-Unitas also captures and stores all the information users enter on the website or transmit to Gretsch-Unitas in any other way. Such data is e.g.:

  • offer data
  • ordering data
  • calculation data
  • and data of general nature

Gretsch-Unitas uses the personal data provided by users solely for the purpose of technical administration of the web pages and to fulfil the wishes and requirements of users, i.e., generally for the preparation and execution of contracts, for the provision of goods and services, for the settlement of payments, for necessary checks and to facilitate ordering or booking by creating user accounts, or to respond to an inquiry.

Gretsch-Unitas also uses information to improve the website, to prevent or detect abuse and fraud, or to enable third parties to carry out technical, logistical or other services for Gretsch-Unitas.

Gretsch-Unitas is entitled to collect, process, and store the above data for the above purposes, and to use it for their own purposes. The user gives his express consent to this, and the consent is logged by Gretsch-Unitas. Moreover, in connection with the use of the website and online orders, Gretsch-Unitas is entitled to contact users via e-mail; the user gives his consent to this.

Only if the user has previously given consent or if – to the extent stipulated by legal regulations – no opposition was lodged, will Gretsch-Unitas use this data for product-related surveys and marketing purposes.

A transfer or other transmission of personal data to third parties occurs only in the extent described below:

  • If a disclosure is necessary for the processing of contracts
  • If the user has expressly consented

Anonymised data (if an assignment to a particular person is not possible) may be used by Gretsch-Unitas for statistical purposes and also passed on to third parties.

5.   Withdrawal of consent, deletion of data
The user can at any time revoke his consent regarding the storage of his personal data or demand from Gretsch-Unitas the correction of the stored data. For this purpose it is sufficient to send an e-mail to Gretsch-Unitas: info(at) If the consent for the storage and processing of personal data is revoked, the website can no longer be fully utilised by the user.

Personal data is deleted

  • if users revoke their consent to the storage,
  • if the knowledge of the data is no longer required to fulfil the objective pursued with the storage,
  • if its storage is or has become inadmissible for other legal reasons.

6.    Cookies
In several places of the website, cookies are used which serve to make the site more user-friendly, effective and safe. Cookies are small text files allowing for the recognition of users. They are stored by the browser memory on the computer of the user. Most of the cookies used by Gretsch-Unitas are so-called "session cookies" which are automatically deleted after the user has left the website.

Gretsch-Unitas also uses "permanent cookies" in order to capture information about users who repeatedly visit the website. In this way an optimum user guidance is achieved, and the website user is offered the greatest possible variety and availability of new content. The content of a persistent cookie is limited to an identification number. Name, IP address etc. are not stored.

Using the website is also possible without cookies. Users can deactivate the storage of cookies in their browser, or limit the storage to specific websites, or adjust their browser in a way that it notifies the arrival of a cookie. User also can delete cookies from their hard disc. In this case, only a limited page presentation and limited user guidance are possible.

8.    Right to information
According to the German Federal Data Protection Act, the user is entitled to inspect at any time his personal data stored by the provider and to obtain information on the data's origin and receiver and on the storage purpose. Furthermore, the user has a right to rectification, blocking or deletion of his data if necessary.

9.    Further information
The user is aware of the fact that under the current state of the art privacy for data transmissions on the Internet cannot be guaranteed. In this respect, users are responsible themselves for the security of the data they transmit on the internet.

Our users' trust is very important to us. Therefore, Gretsch-Unitas is very ready to answer questions concerning the processing of personal data. If questions arise that are not answered by this Privacy Policy, or if users wish to receive more detailed information on some point, they should not hesitate to contact us at the following e-mail address: info[at]
